Meet the original Obavva.
Onake Obavva of Chitradurga 

It happened mid 18th century AD

Obavva was the wife of an ordinary guard in the princely state of Chitradurga, north west of Bangalore, India. Chitradurga was a fort town and Hyder Ali, the father of Tipu Sultan, had his eyes set on this prosperous town and fort.

One night, Obavva who was carrying refreshments for her husband who was a guard at the fort.

One her way there, she happened to hear some strange noises It was Hyder Ali's men trying to infiltrate the fort through a small tunnel they were digging into the fort. She immediately looked for the best weapon she could get to handle the situation. A pounding Staff (Onake)!!

She positioned herself at the end of the tunnel and she gave a clean swing on to the heads of  the soldiers as they emerged from the tunnel, one by one. She was soon joined by her husband and both of them killed a lot of Hyder Ali's men.
Ultimately, Hyder Ali could not conquer the fort.
