Chez Les Cajuns - The Cajun All Stars - vivek 'kevi' dhage

A person known for his vague taste in music, yours truly walked in to Music World the other day. A big crowd was ready for me with an equally unfriendly welcome. The reason – there just wasn’t any space! After jostling and rubbing quite a few shoulders, much to their owners’ chagrin, I winded my way through to the World Music section.

Quite a few good ones there” I thought. But what really caught my eyes was a section on Celtic music and some on Ambience. But the one that took the cake away from them all was a tape that was hidden away in a nook. A true treasure seeker that I am, I ambled through after asking the beautiful lady next to me to give me way.

Now what am I talking about, you may wonder! Well, to put it straight, am talking about a wonderful album called Chez Les Cajuns by The Cajun All Stars. A perfect introduction to Cajun music, the album features instrumentals (16 of ‘em!) that cover all the styles and nuances of the music. And in the words of the publisher, “The Cajun All Stars cook up a steaming kettle of Cajun standards, spicy two-steps, waltzes and more”. I wholeheartedly agree with this and to add my own two bits to it, “If music were the food of life, then I’d be a hog-pot!”

So pick up your lazy bones and head to the nearest music store. And just try to lay your hands on this album. It’s the spiciest Cajun dish money can ever buy!!
